Troubleshooting

Why the Save button is missing, why an invoice will not edit, why a delete is refused, and what QuickBooks is really waiting for.

Last updated Sep 22, 2026

Most of what looks broken in Jobkore is a rule doing its job. This page covers the things that surprise people most often, and what is actually happening underneath.

#Signing up and signing in

"Jobkore is available to contractors in the United States"

Sign-ups are accepted from the United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa. The check reads the country your connection appears to come from, not the address you type into the form.

Two things put a US contractor outside it:

  • A VPN or proxy with an exit in another country. Turn it off and sign up again.
  • Signing up while abroad. Sign up from a connection in the US, or once you are home.

Signing in is not checked this way. An account created in the US keeps working from anywhere, so travel only affects creating one.

"I'm asked for a code every time I sign in"

Signing in with a password from a browser Jobkore does not recognize sends a six-digit code to your email. Verifying it trusts that browser for 90 days, so the code is normally asked for once per device.

It returns sooner if you clear cookies, use a private window, sign in on a new device, or reset your password — a reset clears every trusted device. Sign in with Google skips the code.

"Can't take this sign-up right now"

Sign-ups are capped over short windows. The cap clears on its own, so try again later. If it keeps happening, get in touch.

"That email domain can't receive mail"

The address has to be able to receive email, and disposable addresses are refused. Use one you can open — verification, password resets and your clients' replies all go there.

#"Where is the Save button?"

There isn't one, anywhere in the app. Estimates, invoices, clients, subs, catalog items, field notes, settings and your profile all save as you type, behind a Saving… / Saved indicator.

Done is not a save. It is the exit — it confirms the last change actually landed and takes you back. If a write failed on your final keystroke, Done keeps you on the page instead of walking you away from work that never saved.

The exception is creating some records — a brand-new catalog item, for instance, keeps Save and Cancel and writes nothing until you submit.

#"I can't edit this invoice"

Once an invoice has a payment recorded against it, the fields that decide what is owed are frozen: the client, line items, tax, discount, deposit, markup, terms, issue date and the display toggles.

The title and notes stay editable. The due date and online payment options stay editable too, but only in the direction that helps your client — you can extend a due date, not shorten one.

If the amount genuinely has to change, that is a change order or a new invoice, not an edit. Full detail in Invoices.

#"It won't let me delete this"

Deleting is refused whenever something downstream depends on the record, and Jobkore names the reason each time. The common ones:

  • An estimate can only be deleted while it is a draft or declined, and not if it has change orders or a live invoice.
  • An invoice can be deleted as a draft, or once voided — provided it has no payments, has not synced to QuickBooks, and never reached the client. Otherwise archive it.
  • A client with any history is archived rather than deleted, keeping every document link intact.
  • A sub with no work and no payments is deleted outright; one with history is archived.

Archiving is the intended escape hatch in every one of these cases. Nothing is lost and nothing is orphaned.

#"I can't archive a sub"

Archiving is blocked while a sub's balance is anything other than zero — including when you have overpaid them. Settle it, or correct the agreed figure, and archive will go through.

#"My voice memo won't transcribe"

Transcription runs in the background, so a chip reading Transcribing… for a while on a long memo is normal — you can keep working or leave the page.

If it fails you get a Try Again. After repeated failures Jobkore stops retrying and tells you plainly: the recording is still there, still playable, and you can type the transcript yourself.

If a memo vanished entirely, it was silent. A pocket-dial or a start-then-back-out produces an empty transcript, and the attachment is removed rather than left as a dead chip.

#QuickBooks isn't syncing what I expected

Payments aren't syncing

Almost always a missing deposit account. Without one, recorded payments cannot sync, and Jobkore says so on Settings > Integrations with a count of how many are waiting. Choose one and they go on the next run.

An estimate isn't there

Only sent or accepted estimates sync — drafts stay in Jobkore. Change orders are never synced as documents of their own; the invoice raised from one syncs like any other.

A catalog item isn't there

Your catalog does not sync on its own. An item reaches QuickBooks the first time it appears on a document that syncs, and it needs an income account to be created. If it could not be created, the document still syncs — the line just goes without the item link.

The tax figures don't match

If you use QuickBooks Automated Sales Tax, amounts can differ between the two systems. That is expected.

#Account oddities

"There's a profile photo I never uploaded"

Jobkore falls back to your Google account picture, and then to a Gravatar matched to your email address. Upload one from your Profile to replace it.

"I can't find where to change my password"

There is no current-password form. You change it by sending yourself a reset link from your Profile; the link is good for an hour.

"I can't disconnect Google"

If you created your account with Google you may not have a password yet. Jobkore asks you to set one first, so that removing Google does not leave you with no way in.

"My settings look wrong on this device"

Light / dark / system is saved to your account, not the device, so changing it on your phone changes it on your laptop too.

#Still stuck

Open Help inside the app — it can see your account's state and answer questions about it directly. Or get in touch and a human will pick it up.
